Scope and Contents of the Materials
National Association of Industrial & Technical Educators Archives contain material concerning the foundation, organization and history of the NAITTE; correspondence, proceedings & reports of officers; minutes of executive committee; reports of meetings & conventions & official records related to the organization's constitution & by-laws, financial matters, membership (1961-72), officers, meetings, conventions, publication, honors & awards, research by members, other professional organizations such as the American Vocational Association (AVA) & the Associatied Organizations for Teacher Education (AOTE). This series includes papers delivered; report of NAITTE officers; publications; official records of NAITTE officers (1948-90); subject files (1959-70, 1979-87), minutes & mailings (1939-73); lists, schedules & guides concerning American Vocational Association Conferences and Files relating to Rupert Evans' 50th Anneversary history (1985-88). This series includes editorial correspondence for the Journal of Industrial Teacher Education including author and copyright transfer agreements, budgets, and Editorial Board meeting minutes (1986-96). Also included is a VHS videocassette of the 1992 officer installation ceremony at the NAITTE breakfast.
Biographical Note
Established in 1962 as one of seven departments in the newly organized College of Education, the Vocational and Technical Education Department consists of the Agricultural Division, Business Education Division, Home Economics Division and the Industrial Arts Division. The Department is primarily concerned with teaching, educational research and public service programs.1

--Business Education Department:
The Department was established in the College of Commerce and Business Administration as a result of the reorganization of the Department of Business Organization and Operation on September 1, 1953.2 The Department offered programs leading to the B.S. and M.S. degrees in Commercial Teaching. In 1967, the work of this Department was transferred to the College of Education.
