Papers of Trygve A. Rovelstad (1903-90) Elgin, Illinois-based sculptor, including correspondence, scrapbooks, diaries, sketch books, autobiographical memoirs and publicity materials concerning his apprenticeship under Lorado Taft at Midway Studios in Chicago (1922-25); studies at the University of Washington (1926-28); work for the U.S. War Dept in the Washington, D.C. Heraldic Division and at Shrivenham American University in England (1943-48); his artistic projects, including The Pioneer Memorial, The Freemont Memorial, The Roll of Honor (1946-56), restoration of Lorado Taft's Fountain of Time, the "I Will Statue" for Chicago's lakefront, and other civic statues and medals of honor; and his sculpture school in Elgin, Illinois.
