Scope and Contents of the Materials

Consists of eight scrapbooks containing newsclippings, concert programs, photographs, health permit, zines, and concert memorabilia and ephemera, documenting David Roesch's tenure as a stage manager at the Assembly Hall and the Urbana-Champaign, Illinois local music scene between 1966 and 2017. Of note are records of performances by such bands as Coal Kitchen, The Moon Seven Times, The Vertebrats, Mother, Corndolly, Suede Chain, Finchley Boys, Ginger, Captain Rat and the Blind Rivets, Starcastle, REO Speedwagon, Hound Dog Moses, Poster Children, B-Lovers, Corndolly, Hardvark, Sarge, the Last Gentlemen, Absinthe Blind, Champaign (the band), Combo Audio, George Faber and Stronghold, The Elvis Brothers, Nix 86, The Outnumbered, Nick Rudd, and Lonely Trailer. Scrapbooks also include advertisements for local music venues including Chances R, Red Lion Inn, Assembly Hall, Blind Pig, The Virginia Theater, City Limits, Alley Cat, Mabel's, The Brown Jug, Panama Red's, Red Herring, Highdive, Cowboy Monkey, Mike N' Molly's, and the Rose Bowl.

Biographical Note

David Roesch started his own lighting business shortly after graduating from Centennial High School (Champaign) in 1975, and began working closely with local and national musicians. In 1984 he was hired as extra help at the State Farm Center (formerly Assembly Hall), until becoming a full-time stage manager in 1999.  He retired from the State Farm Center in February of 2018.
