Description: Papers of Stanley La. Kaufman, A.B. '22 (1900- ), including correspondence, financial records, receipt, legal agreements, brochures & related documentation concerning the Kaufman family farm property in DeWitt County, Illinois & the Freudenstein Building in Clinton, Ill. (1932-48). These records concern crop allotments, insurance & loans, grain settlement agreements, farm management services, tenant leases, supply & equipment expenses, & Freudenstein Building maintenance, insurance & leasing arrangements with local businesses. The collection includes material relating to the estates of Edwin L. & Lillian Freudenstein, family investments, personal purchases, travel & vacations, Joan M. Kaufman's attendance at summer camp (1938) & Rockford College (1946-48), Stanley L. Kaufman's army tour of duty at Camp McCoy, Wisc. (1944-45) & the financial affairs of Rho Chapter of Zeta Beta Tau Fraternity, including correspondence with national officers Richard Cole, Lee Dover & Frank S. Scallot concerning house repairs, a second mortgage & the collection of delinquent bills (1934-35). The papers also contain correspondence, circulars & affidavits regarding the efforts of Kaufman & Jewish refugee aid organizations to assist Jewish relatives in Germany & other European countries wishing to immigrate to America (1936-40) & a letter (8/23/38) describing the political, social & economic condition of Jews in Germany. The papers contain two autograph guest books form the J.M. Kaufman store with signatures of Illini Dads (1911-40) & autographed programs form football banquets & photographs of Robert Zuppke & George Huff. The papers include programs form Interscholastic Track meets & circuses (1913-16), include photographs of the University of Illinois campus & Homecoming Game programs.
