Hearsey Papers (1910- ) (B.S. 1937, MLS 1940) contains autobiographical documents; his book, "District 16 United States Power Squadrons: Fifty Years of Growth, 1944-1994" (1995); a five-volume autobiography (1995, 1998), with reproductions of photographs, outlining his childhood, early education, employment in libraries during late childhood, high school education, employment in Harvard Library, undergraduate education at Tufts (1931-34), Library School and employment in the Library at the University of Illinois (1937-1941), employment in librarianship at Western Washington State College (1941-42 and 1945 to retirement) and U.S. Coast Guard Service during World War II (1942-45); a second edition history of the "Bellingham Power Squadron" (1997), a boating education organization, including Hearsey's role in the squadron, his boats, and photocopies of newspaper clippings about Mr. Hearsey and the Squadron; and a memoir, "Boating in My Life," about his forty years of boating and his five boats.
