Description: Papers of the Natural History Society including correspondence, announcements, calls, constitutions and by-laws, membership certificates, lists of members, financial statements and copies and abstracts of scientific papers read at annual field meetings. Correspondence with Stephen A. Forbes related largely to meetings and programs. Correspondents include Cyrus Thomas, Thomas J. Burrill, A. H. Worthen, G.H. French and Don C. Taft. The papers also include the June 30, 1858 announcement of the establishment of the Natural History Society and a typescript copy of the 1871 resolution transferring the Natural History Society museum to the State Board of Education.
