The papers include correspondence (1932-48) about journalism; the Daily Illini; Illinois alumni; Illinois Press Association; press conventions; Northwestern University Journalism School; military service; faculty appointments; freedom of the press research; legal cases involving freedom of the press, libel and newspaper taxes and publications. The papers include copies of The Rights and Privileges of the Press (1934) and articles on the regulation and taxation of the press, federal wartime information agencies, political advertising and the law and journalism (1936-46).
