Description: Papers of William Marmaduke Plater (1945-), Assistant to the Dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (1969-71), Acting Director of Unit One (1971-73) and Assistant (1972-78) and Associate (1978-83) Director of the School of Humanities, including addresses, announcements, brochures, bulletins, catalogs, correspondence, lists, notes, poetry journals, programs, reports, schedules, and studies relating to educational reform and experiments, independent programs of study, symposia, visiting lecturers, and the creation, development and administration of Unit One (1968-73). Plater was also responsible for establishing the Cohn Scholars program in 1978 and the Unit for Criticism and Interpretive Theory in 1981 during his time as Associate Director of the School of Humanities. The series also includes two RCA magnetic tapes of a lecture (1971) and a poetry reading (1973) as well as signed artwork by American painter Billy Morrow Jackson.
