Description:

Consists of a scrapbook containing news clippings, correspondence, photographs, programs, and correspondence related to Albert “Butch” Nowack during his time as a football player under Robert Zuppke at the University of Illinois and his later career as a football coach at the LaSalle-Peru High School. Includes correspondence with and photos of renowned Illinois coach Robert Zuppke.

The scrapbook was created by Russell and Thelma Johnson, close friends of Nowak and Zuppke. Russell assisted at Illinois games, and Nowack and Zuppke named a football play after Thelma. Zuppke often visited the Johnsons at their home in Peru, IL.
