Consists of photographs, correspondence, programs, travel itineraries, reports, and financial records documenting the management and operation of the University of Illinois Women's Glee Club between 1983 and 2001. In addition there are cassette audio recordings of Joe Grant's work with the Illinois Summer Youth Music Junior and Senior Choirs from 1983 to 1994, and LP recordings of Joe Grant's work with the Illinois Summer Youth Music Junior and Senior Choirs from 1972 to 1981.
Joe Grant was a professor at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, for 26 years. He chaired the music education department and headed the choral division of the School of Music, as well as conducting the Women's Glee Club. He has since retired from the University and is currently the Adult Choir Director at First Presbyterian Church.
The University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign Women's Glee Club was founded in 1895 and is an ensemble in the School of Music's choral division. The group currently consists of approximately 70 female students, and has toured regionally and nationally.
