Files of the Margaret A. Edwards Trust before the transfer of the fund to Young Adult Services Association, including materials relating to grants to libraries (1989-97, 1999-2013), correspondence of the Trust, reprints of The Fair Garden and the Swarms of Beasts, the Alex Award (1998, 2000-06, 2008, 2010-12), the Margaret A. Edwards Award (1990, 2006, 2009-11), biographical information and photographs of Margaret Edwards, and award seals.
Biographical Note
Margaret A. Edwards (1902-88) was a librarian and coordinator of Young Adult work at the Enoch Pratt Free Library. Per her will, her estate was used to form a trust to help fund the work of promotiong reading to teenagers and young adults. Established in 1989, the Trust conferred grants to libraries with outstanding programs for yound adults. In 2014, the Trustees transferred the fund to ALA/YALSA to manage.
