Scope and Contents of the Materials
ALA Archives Exhibits File (2005, 2007, 2011, 2013-14, 2017-19, 2023), including duplications of documents and photographs, materials lists, notes, labels, and captions used in exhibits for the American Library Association, the University Archives, and the University Library. Topics cover intellectual freedom, Knapp School Library project, traveling and rural libraries, the Library War Service, and the Rainbow Round Table.
Biographical Note
The American Library Association Archives was found in 1973, when the records of the ALA were moved from a warehouse in Chicago to the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign to be housed and managed by the University Archives. The ALA Archives consists of official records, correspondence, publications, photographs, sound recordings, films, and videotapes. Research material is arranged in five general areas: administrative and staff offices, associations and divisions, round tables, committees and members' papers, and affiliated and associated organizations (1).
