Federal Librarian (1980-2010) is the quarterly newsletter of the Federal and Armed Forces Libraries Round Table containing messages from the FAFLRT president, meeting minutes, reports, round table board membership, features on federal and armed forces librarians and libraries, and information on upcoming events.

Note: In 2000 the Federal Librarians Round Table and the Armed Forces Libraries Round Table merged to become the Federal and Armed Forces Libraries Round Table (FAFLRT). The newsletter for 2001-2002 reflects this change in its numbering and title. For Fall 2002 the FAFLRT voted to change the name of the newsletter to Federal Librarian and returned to its former volume numbering in Winter 2002.

The Federal and Armed Forces Libraries Round Table (FAFLRT) exists as an official round table under the American Library Association to promote library and information service and the library and information profession in the federal and armed forces communities; to promote appropriate utilization of federal and armed forces library and information resources and facilities; and to provide an environment for the stimulation of research and development relating to the planning, development, and operation of federal and armed forces libraries. The Federal Librarians Round Table and the Armed Forces Libraries Round Table merged into the Federal and Armed Forces Libraries Round Table. The first meeting of the FAFLRT Board occured in 2001, during the ALA Annual Meeting in San Francisco. [2]
