The Margaret Mary Kimmel Papers include official records, publications and personal correspondence of Margaret Mary Kimmel (1938-2014). She served as president of the Association for Library Services to Children (ALSC), chair of the Commission on Accreditation (COA), chair of the Office of Library Personnel and Resources (OLPR), and Chair of the Committe on Education. The major papers in this collection are her leadership with ALSC, work with the Commission for Accreditation of Public Libraries (CAPL), and involvement with the United States Department of Education's survey on Library Service to Young Adults in Public Libraries. The collection also includes one video tape and one sound recording disk.

Born in Gary, Indiana on May 12, 1938; Ph.D., University of Pittsburgh; became a full professor at Pitt in 1983 and chaired the department of library science from 1990 to 1995, specializing in children's literature. Passed away on June 10, 2014 (1). She served as president of the Association for Library Services to Children (ALSC), chair of the Commission on Accreditation (COA), chair of the Office of Library Personnel and Resources (OLPR), and Chair of the Committe on Education.
