Papers of William H. Huff (1922-2015), member of Board of Directors (1962-64, 1967-68) contains correspondence, reports, agendas and minutes of meetings, material on the Cataloging and Classification Section and the Serial Section Committee, and conference files for the ALA annual and midwinter conferences (1966-68, 1970-71).
Biographical Note
William Huff was born May 29, 1922, in Detroit, Michigan. He obtained an AB in English Literature and an AMLS from the University of Michigan. He worked as an Assistant Reference Librarian at Northwestern University from 1950 to 1954. He held several positions at the University of Illinois, including Assistant Director for Collections Development and Preservation, Head of Collection Development and Preservations, Serials Librarian, and Serials Acquisition Librarian – the latter position at the University of Illinois Library at Chicago’s Navy Pier. Huff’s publications include “Serials” in the ALA Yearbook (1975-80); “The National Periodicals Center” in Catholic Library World (Fall 1978); “The Periodical Collection in Times of Tight Budgets” in Illinois Library (Fall 1978); “Serial Subscription Agencies” in Library Trends (April 1976), and “Annuals” in Encyclopedia of Library and Information Science (1968).
