Biographical Note
George Watson Cole was a librarian and bibliographer born in 1850 in Warren Connecticut. He worked in libraries at Fitchburg, Massachusetts and the Pratt Institute before attending Melvil Dewey's library school at Columbia College in 1888. He later worked for the Newberry Library in Chicago and then the Free Public Library of Jersey City, New Jersey from 1891-1895. He then served as librarian of the Henry E. Huntington Library and Art Gallery from 1915-1924. He died on Octoboer 10, 1939.
