Name: Borden, Joseph C.
Historical Note: Joseph C. Borden was born in South Orange, New Jersey on May 22, 1909. He graduated from Harvard University with an AB in 1931 and attended the Union Theological Seminary from 1932 to 1933. He graduated from Columbia University with a BS in Library Science in 1940. Borden worked at the New York Public Library, University of Arkansas, and Purdue University. He served on the ALA’s Book Acquisition Committee (1951-3), ACRL’s Committee on Constitution and Bylaws (1954-7), as well as committees for the RTSD, SRT, and SWLA. He was SWLA treasurer from 1961 to 1964.
