Name: Library-Anthropology Resource Group
Historical Note: Library-Anthropology Resource Group (LARG) was founded in 1971 by anthropologist Sol Tax, along with Slavic bibliographer Jan Wepsich and Francis X. Grollig. LARG was formed as a cooperative of anthropologists and librarians in the Chicago area institutions including the Field Museum, Loyola University, Northeastern University, Northwestern University, Roosevelt University, the University of Chicago, and the University of Illinois, Chicago Circle Campus. The group discussed the bibliographic needs in the field of anthropology and explored the development of useful reference publications. It was a voluntary group without an administrative structure, but its activities were coordinated by editors of publication projects. The group produced several books, including Serial Publications in Anthropology, Anthropological Bibliographies : a Selected Guide, and International Dictionary of Anthropologists.
