Caption reads: Taken two miles east of Rensselaer on the day of the burning of the State Library, March 29, 1911. Fragments of books and papers from the fire were found in many places in this vicinity. The following students are in the group, beginning at the left: Mildred Jones, Paul N. Rice, Charles Janvrin, Fannie C. Rawson, Frances H. Kelly, Miriam L. Leonard, Pauline McCauley, Alfred D. Keator, Gertrude Krausnick.
