University Libraries Section | The American Library Association Archives
The University Libraries Section (ULS) exists to advance university librarianship, university library service, and the development of university libraries. Its committees include Steering, Conference Planning, Current Topics Planning, Guidelines for Branch Libraries Review, Nominations, Organization and By-laws, and Policy and Planning. There are also several ad hoc committees: Performance Measures, Promotion and Publication, Section Review, and University Library Standards Review (1).
The ULS was one of the five original sections formed when the College and Reference Section of ALA voted to become the Association of College and Reference Libraries in 1983 (2), and has existed ever since, although it was dormant from 1943 to 1945 (3).
