Instruction Section | The American Library Association Archives
Name: Instruction Section
Historical Note: In 1971 an ad hoc committee of the Association of College and Research Libraries was established to consider the possibility of establishing a clearinghouse for information on instructional programs currently in operation, to explore methods of evaluating existing programs and materials and to investigate the need for research into problems connected with instructional programs (1). In 1977, the Bibliographic Instruction Section was created to carry out these programs and to cooperate with Project LOEX, the national clearinghouse on academic bibliographic instruction (2). In 1995, the name of the section changed to Instruction Section.
