Librarians meeting by a sign reading "Gas Congress" at the St. Lous Fair sometime around the 1904 ALA Annual Conference in St. Louis, Missouri.
On the back reads: "One of the minor congresses which met outside the Hall. Mr. Godard, Mr. Langton, Mr. Purd Wright, Mr. H.P. Cutter, Mr. Gerould, Mr. Dudley. Each mouth is tightly closed for fear someone might think 'gas' meant 'hot air.'"
