circa 1950

Unidentified children reading at the Regional Library in Knoxville, Tennessee

'How to do it' books are popular with all ages. A county court member, a machinist by trade, became a promoter of library service in his county when he found on the bookmobile a book on machinery. 'If I had only had a chance at books like that when I was a boy,' was his lament to the regional library."
