Name: REFORMA


Historical Note: REFORMA: The National Association to Promote Library & Information Services to Latinos and the Spanish Speaking was established in 1971 by by Arnulfo Trejo and Elizabeth Martinez as an affiliate of the American Library Association to promote library services to Latinos and the Spanish-speaking. The association was originally called National Association of Spanish Speaking Librarians. In 1983, the association name was changed REFORMA, the National Association to Promote Library Services to the Spanish Speaking. The association held its first conference in 1996 and in 2006 took part in the first Joint Conference of Librarians of Color.
