Brief Description: Scrapbook of Elizabeth H. Burnside, volunteer in the Library War Service, contains a report on a gift of books from Whittier, California, titled "Report of the Publicity Work, Processing and Disbursing the Whittier (Cal.) Gift Books of the A. L. A. Book Campaign, for Soldiers and Sailors, 18-25 March, 1918" and newspaper and publication clippings concerning the Whittier gift. Also contains letters gifting the materials from Burnside to the University of Illinois Library in 1920.

Biographical Note for Burnside, Elizabeth H. (1882-1953) : Elizabeth H. Burnside was born on February 10, 1882 in Oskaloosa, Iowa, and died on December 29, 1953. She attended Penn College in Oskaloosa (1901-05) and the University of Illinois Library School (1905-07). Burnside worked at the Oskaloosa High School library, Bradley Polytechnic Institue, Morningside College, and the Oskaloosa Public Library. She also served in the ALA WWI Library War Service.
