American Library Association Web Archive, 2013-
[Back to Formatted Version]
Brief Description:

The American Library Association Web Archive collects sites managed by the ALA to further the Archives' mission to preserve the history of ALA activities and policies, and of the profession of librarianship. This web archive includes, but is not limited to, sites managed by ALA's offices, divisions, round tables, committees, and special initiatives.

Started in Fall 2013, the ALA Web-Archiving Project uses Archive-It to capture preservation copies of the ALA's online intellectual content in order to preserve records of the site for future researchers. Most websites are captured on an annual basis. Archived websites will remain freely available in support of educational use, and historical and personal research. Due to technical issues or password protected pages, archived websites may not be exact copies. The project first used the California Web Archiving Service, before migrating to Archive-It in 2015.
