Description: The Panel on UNESCO, a subcommittee of the International Relations Committee, was established in July 1958 as a means of increasing ALA involvement in UNESCO matters. The Panel consisted of 32 members from ALA who appraised new library program activities proposed by the Director General, developed suggestions for new program ideas, and assisted in implementing the UNESCO library program in the U.S. The file includes background and organizational material (1958-62), membership records and correspondence and reports of the Chairmen: Verner Clapp (1958- 62), Lucile Morisch (1962-64) and John Lorenz (1965-70).
