Files of the Statistics Committee, known as the Committee on Uniform Statistical Report Forms (1936 to 1939), and including previously compiled statistical material (1917, 1921-36), to consider uniform annual report forms and to submit recommendations, coordinate statistical activities of the Association and cooperate with the U.S. Office of Education and other agencies, chaired by Ralph M. Dunbar (1938-38), George C. Allez (1938-45) and G. Flint Purdy (1945-46), contains correspondence, reports, statistical surveys of public, academic, county and secondary school libraries, circulars, reprints of statistical articles, and publications, includes reports and correspondence of William H. Clift, executive assistant to the committee, and Statistical Assistant of the Department of Information and Advisory Services (1934-41).

Note: in 1957, the Statistics Committee was transferred to the Library Organization and Management Section of the Library Administration Division as the Statistics Coordinating Committee.

This section was organized and approved by the governing board in June, 1957 (1). This section exercises responsibility for matters pertaining to the furtherance of efficient library operation in all types of libraries. Illustrative of the fields of interest covered are the theory and practices of library administration; library management research, experimentation, and evaluation; compilation, coordination, and interpretation of library statistics; and work simplification studies (1).
