Scope and Contents of the Materials

Records of the Cataloguing Section of the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA), including the records of the Planning Committee for a series of five regional meetings, the International Meetings of Experts on International Cataloguing Code (IME ICC). Meetings were held at Frankfurt, Germany, 2003; Buenos Aires, Argentina, 2004; Cairo, Egypt, 2005; Seoul, South Korea, 2006; and Pretoria South Africa, 2007. Records include correspondence, voting ballots and results, background and planning documents for each meeting, conference programs and presentations, and work on IFLA cataloguing principles and glossaries.

Collection Historical Note

The Cataloguing Section analyzes the functions of cataloguing activities for all types of material and media, including both bibliographic and authority information, for the benefit of all users.

The Section proposes and develops cataloguing rules, guidelines, and standards for bibliographic information, taking into account the developing networked digital environment in order to promote universal access to and exchange of bibliographic and authority information.
