Papers of Harriet C. Long (1887-1941), ALA Librarian in the Mexican Border Traveling Library Service (1918) ALA War Service Librarian in France and Germany (1919), and State Librarian of Oregon (1930-41), contains procedures manual for Mexican Border Service Libraries (1918), instructions for outpost monitors (1918), uniform specifications (1918), photographs of the ALA War Service Library in Coblenz, Germany (1919), correspondence with Long's family from Van Wert, Ohio (1918), San Antonio, Texas (1918), Beaume, Marseilles, Is-Sur-Tille, and Paris, France (1919), Coblenz, Germany (1919), Brussels, Belgium (1919), Florence and Rome, Italy (1919), and London, England (1919), and publications by Long includes "The Pennsylvania-Germans", a bibliography submitted in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of B.L.S. from the New York State Library School (1910), a pamphlet, "Why Not? Biographical Note

Harriet C. Long (1887-1941) was the Oregon state librarian. She graduated from New York State Library School in 1910; worked in libraries in California until 1915; later she was engaged in library work with the army on the Mexican Border, and in France and Germany during 1918 and 1919; she was a member of American Library Association, American Association of University Women, and the Salem Women's Club.
