Borden (1949, 1951-64), including correspondence, meeting minutes, membership lists, circulars, agendas, a dues paid list, notes of addresses presented at the ALA Serials Round Table (1963), book workshops, meeting programs, drafts of constitutions and bylaws for the Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL), memoranda, drafts of pamphlets, newsletters, annual and quarterly reports, and pamphlets; concerning Borden’s participation as Secretary-Treasurer of the Southwest Regional Meeting and as an ALA member of the Serials Round Table; the Book Acquisitions Committee, the ACRL Committee on Constitution and Bylaws; the Resources and Technical Services Division’s (RTSD) Acquisitions Section’s Nominating Committee, Acquisitions Policy and Research Committee, and Subcommittee on Bibliographic Holdings of European Antiquarian Societies. Biographical Note
Joseph C. Borden was born in South Orange, New Jersey on May 22, 1909. He graduated from Harvard University with an AB in 1931 and attended the Union Theological Seminary from 1932 to 1933. He graduated from Columbia University with a BS in Library Science in 1940. Borden worked at the New York Public Library, University of Arkansas, and Purdue University. He served on the ALA’s Book Acquisition Committee (1951-3), ACRL’s Committee on Constitution and Bylaws (1954-7), as well as committees for the RTSD, SRT, and SWLA. He was SWLA treasurer from 1961 to 1964.
