Historical Note: The Consortium of Museums Libraries in the Chicago Area was founded in 1898 and its mission was to function as a forum for communication, cooperation, and resource sharing among Chicago-area museum libraries. Cultural institutions represented included the Adler Planetarium, Art Institute, Chicago Botanic Garden, Chicago Historical Society, Chicago Public Library, Field Museum, Lincoln Park Zoo, Milwaukee Public Museum, Museum of Science and Industry, and the Shedd Aquarium.
