Historical Note: Jerrold Orne was the library director at Knox College (1941-1943), Washington University in St. Louis (1946-1952), Air University, Maxwell Air Force Base, Alabama (1952-1956), and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (1957-1973) and professor of Library Science at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (1973-1976).
