The Federal Librarians Round Table (FLRT) was organized at the ALA 1972 Chicago Annual Meeting and the first FLRT meeting was held at the ALA 1973 Midwinter Meeting (1). The purposes of the organization are the promotion of library service and the library profession in the Federal community, the promotion and utilization of Federal library resources and facilities and the provision of an environment for the stimulation or research and development relating to the planning, development, and operation of Federal libraries (2). The official FLRT publication was the FLRT Newsletter, which became The Federal Librarian in January, 1980 (3).
