Historical Note: Richard J. Solczyk (12/19/1944-12/27/1967) attended the University of Illinois from 1962 to 1965, after which he joined the United States Army.  He achieved the rank of First Lieutenant, and served in Vietnam as a member of the 119th Light Infantry Brigade.  Lieutenant Solczyk was killed in action on December 27th, 1967, near Lon Binh or Bien Hoa, South Vietnam.  He was 8 days past his 23rd birthday.
