Historical Note:

Gail Marvin Fosler (1919-2009) was associate professor in the Department of Horticulture at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. His research and publications concerned floriculture. Professor Fosler was also the editor of the Illinois State Florist's Association Bulletin for more than 40 years.

Gail Marvin Fosler was born on March 20, 1919 near Milford, Nebraska, to Roy and Florence Fosler. He received his B.S. from the University of Nebraska in 1942. After serving as an aviator in the U.S. Air Force during the Second World War, Professor Fosler completed his M.S. in 1947 and his PhD circa 1950 at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. Professor Fosler retired in 1984.
