Series 4: Tom Paynter Digitized Tape Cassettes Arranged by Jeff MachotaAdd to your cart.
Consists of tape cassettes collected, arranged, and digitized by Jeff Machota, a close friend of Tom Paynter. The materials have been arranged using an alphanumeric code based on the type of recording and the date of recording within that series (each alphanumeric consists of two letters and three numbers, i.e. xx - ###). The tapes begin with the Mellifluous Cacophony (MC) series, a radio program on WEFT 90.1 in Urbana where Paynter gave frequent performances, and end with the Thomas Paynter (TP) series, which are original and master recordings of Paynter's music and recordings made by Paynter at the Urbana venues Nature's Table, Zorbas, and the Blind Pig. The number of the TP series was determined by the date in which Jeff Machota acquired the item. Every time new cassettes were located, they were added to the end of the series. These items were digitized and uploaded to Archive.org by Jeff Machota before he donated the materials to the Sousa Archives. Notable recordings in this series include: the Ron Dewar Quartet, the Tom Paynter Quintet, Guido Sinclair, Dorothy Martirano, Morgan Powell, and Ray Sasaki.
