Description: Account Book of Stephen Dewey ( -1826) and Loring D. Dewey, his son and the administrator of his estate, containing the business records of a farmer and landowner of Sheffield, Massachusetts. Forty accounts show the name of the other party, date, type of work of commodities involved, amount debited or credited and settlement. Stephen Dewey died January 3, 1826. The book shows prices of hauling logs and wood, highway work, plowing, oxen, beef, horse shoeing, surveying, metal work, corn, hay, cider, beans, cats, rye, pork, apples, and straw.
