Brief Description: Papers of George Warner Swenson (1922-), professor of electrical engineering and research professor of astronomy (1956-), including autobiographical "Reminiscences" (1996), correspondence, publications, photographs, and duplicated statements relating to the satellite ionosphere program (1957-64); a visit to Russian radio astronomy installations (1961); the construction, dedication and operation of the University's radio telescope (1958-62); the ionosphere-eclipse project (1963), an international conference at Geneva on allocation of radio frequencies for space research, satellites and radio astronomy (1963), ionospheric research (1964), and research papers, National Science Foundation committee and panel reports, correspondence and drafts for a history of the decision to construct a large radio telescope - the Very Large Array project (1967-77).
