Description: Papers of Harry S. Broudy (1905- ), professor of philosophy of education (1957-74) and editor of Educational Forum (1964-73), including correspondence with college and university administrators, professional colleagues, officers of the Philosophy of Education Society, the American Association for Realistic Philosophy, Educational Testing Service, Educational Research Council and CEMREL (Central Midwestern Regional Educational Laboratory) and representatives of institutions of higher education where Broudy was lecturer or visiting professor; manuscripts and corrected galley proofs of Broudy's The Real World of Public Schools (1972) and copies of published and unpublished articles on the philosophy of education, aesthetic education, teacher education, and realism in education. Chief correspondents include Mauritz Johnson, Jr., B. Paul Komisar, Martinus J. Langweld, Mary Anne Raywid, Donald D. Vanderberg, J. Myron Atkin, John E. Corbally, and Betty A. Sichel. The series includes class materials, lectures, and notes on philosophy; audio cassetes and transcripts of interviews from the Uses of Learning Project (1980), a research project which served as a source for The Uses of Schooling (1988); and the manuscript of an unpublished book, Exploring the Realms of Value (ca. 1977).
