Katz, Professor of Architecture and Director of the Office of Housing Research and Development (1969- 1994), including correspondece, grant proposals, grant reports (including 'Alternative Home-Ownership for Older Persons', 'Housing Alternatives for Elderly Homeowners,' and 'Retirement Housing in Illinois: A Profile and Description of Quality Assurance Procedures' and working papers concering research projects managed by Katz and other faculty members in the Office. Signficant subjects include elderly housing, public housing in Illinois, University of Illinois housing, and HR & D unit history. Correspondents include the National Endowment for the Humanities, United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials (NAHRO), the Ford Foundation, the Illinios Housing Development Authority, and Mary Nenno.
