Description: Papers of Theodore Peterson (1918-1999), Dean of College of Communication (1957-87), include correspondence with publishers, former students, newspaper reporters, magazine personnel and editors, advertising and public relations officers and faculty members about American Society of Magazine Editors internships, academic appointments, Esquire and Arnold Gingrich, Journalism program evaluations,magazine history and publishing, Newsweek, and Illinois Issues. The series includes early articles from the Minnesota Daily and other publications (1933-40); a research file for the book Magazines in the Twentieth Century (1956); publications (1933-2001) and manuscripts (1948, 1951-87) ; speeches, book reviews related to magazine publishing, dissertations, and books; publications by colleagues and former Illinois students (1935, 1950-72, 1986-87); course materials (1965-89); a cassette recording of an interview with Dean Allen Weller (1993); and photographs (1961-70). Correspondents include Sid Bernstein, Mitchell Charnley, Bart Cummings, Arnold Gingrich, Edgar Grunwald, W. Alex Jordan, Marvin Kitman, Sam Shapiro, Fred Siebert, Russell Thackrey and Robert Yoakum.
