Description: University Film Council File containing council minutes; annual reports to the president; correspondence with administrative officers concerning policies, programs and finances; correspondence with film suppliers and lecturers; correspondence with student managers of Illini Union and Men's Residence Halls motion picture programs, film schedules and publicity releases and related material. The series includes notes on the history and policies of the Illini Union movies (1949-56), correspondence with Liam O'Laoghaire concerning his 1961 lecture on "America's Contributions to the Art of the Screen" and general correspondence on University policies and film series. Chairmen of the Council were Clarence W. Stone (1953-56), Henry L. Mueller (1957-58, 1960-63) and Helen M. Welch (1958-60).
