Description: NDEA Institute for Advanced Studies in History File including correspondence of the director, Robert A. Waller, circulars, brochures, contracts, applications, questionnaires, outlines, agenda, bibliographies, instructional material and financial statements concerning planning, staffing, participants, course content, programs, publicity, meetings of institute directors, budgets, salaries, expenses, fellowships, final reports for each year, and evaluations of the institutes at Illinois and other schools. Each summer 30 or 40 high school teachers primarily from Illinois attended the six week sessions aimed at upgrading the quality of high school teaching. The major institute themes were U.S. History (1965), Asian History (1966) and Latin American History (1967).
