Description: Papers of Barnard Wolcott Hewitt (1906-87), Professor of Theatre (1948-77) contain biographical and autobiographical information, awards, lectures and speeches, publications, and correspondence relating to the National Association of Dramatic and Speech Arts, (1951-52), and relating to establishment of a regional office of the American National Theatre and Academy at the University of Illinois (1965-66). This series also includes Judson Gunung and Hewitt's 1935 play "The Cocklepfiefer Case" (1935) and photographs of "Let Joy Be Unrefined" (University of Colorado, 1931), and lectures and papers relating to profiles of American actors, and the history of theatrical performance in America.
