James and other relatives; private correspondence with educators, economists, politicians and others on university affairs, family business, politics, economics, education and other subjects. Correspondents include Simon N. Patten, Norman Waite Harris, Johannes Conrad, Leonard Wood, Theodore Roosevelt, Hamlin Garland, Lorado Taft, Graham Taylor, Julia Lathrop and Charles DeGarmo; the out-going correspondence for 1904-1906 in two letterbooks. Only a few scrapbooks, diaries and letters pre-date 1904.
