Description: Papers of Margaret A. Chaplan, Labor and Industrial Relations Librarian (1972- ) contain correspondence, minutes and agenda items for the Committee on the Status of Women (1975-81) including Chaplan's service as Chair (1979-81) and concerning women's programs, pay equity, day care, graduate student applications, women's athletics, sexual harassment, and campus policies regarding women's issues. This series also includes her membership in the Illinois Heartland User Group (1980-1988), and a chronology (1988-1993) of supporting documents relating to faculty governance issues and departmental reorganization during the tenure of University Librarians David Bishop and Robert Wedgworth and files of the 1980 Public Services Director's Implementation Committee. Additionally, files from Vice-Chancellor for Academic Affairs, Robert Berdahl, and chaired by Lewis D. Hopkins of Urban and Regional Planning, include reports and memos on the reallocation of campus funds, restructuring and consolidation of colleges and department program, correspondence from department directors, statewide analyses of public universities productivity, and newspaper clippings on University funding and downsizing. It also contains records relating to library administration, evaluations, committee operations, acquisitions, programs, policies, and staff issues.
