Description: Visual material of Richard John Solczyk (1944-1967). Solczyk attended the University of Illinois from 1962 to 1965, studying in the College of Fine & Applied Arts. Collection consists predominantly of color slides dated from 1966 to 1968. Subjects depicted include campus scenes of the University of Illinois, Greek Life, football games, candid pictures, the Haight-Ashbury district in San Francisco, CA, car races at Road America, WI, parachute training at Fort Benning, GA, miscellaneous military events, and combat/general scenes from the Vietnam War.
Types of color slide include Kodachrome, Ektachrome, Agfachrome, Dynacolor, unnamed Color Transparency, and unlabeled. Some slides have loose film stored with them.
Slides arrived with labeled date range of 1964-1968. The printed dates on the slides, however, only range from 1966 to 1968. As this is believed to reflect the dates the images were developed, and not when they were taken, the full date range of 1964-1968 has been used for the collection.
